The student body at GW is a diverse mix. Because of it's location as a school in a large and prominent national city, a large percentage of the GW student body consists of foreign students. However, most students at GW are generally white, affluent, and from New England or the East Coast.

According to [1], the statistics on 1st year students are the following:

  • 1% In-state students
  • 99% Out-of-state students
  • 1% Part-time students

  • 56% Women
  • 44% Men

  • <1% American Indian/Alaskan Native
  • 11% Asian/Pacific Islander
  • 6% Black/Non-Hispanic
  • 6% Hispanic
  • 60% White/Non-Hispanic
  • 4% Non-Resident Alien
  • 13% Race/ethnicity unreported

  • 66% in top 10th of graduating class
  • 90% in top quarter of graduating class
  • 100% in top half of graduating class

The GW student body has a very large graduate student population. According to[1], the statistics on the student body population are the following:

  • Total undergrads: 10,701
  • Degree-seeking undergrads: 10,370
  • First-time degree-seeking freshmen: 2,140
  • Graduate enrollment: 12,009
